The popular Nano: Art-in-Motion series saw its third installment recently in Delhi with the creation of the Nano Saddi Dilli art car at Youth Nexus, a talent show for 40 colleges in Delhi.
The categories for this year’s competition included Street Play, Fashion, Choreography, and a Rock Band Competition, with the finale held at Ramlal Anand College in New Delhi.
“Saddi Dilli” (My/Our Delhi) was the theme for this year’s event, with an eye on the sights and flavors of Delhi. The car was painted by “The Doodlers”, a trio of artists from Mumbai, and it evoked a pop-art style in seeking to capture the unique vibrancy and flavor of Delhi. The Nano became a canvas of modern art under the brushstrokes of the artists and served as a window to the culture and monuments of the city.
To further the cause of creative collaboration, students were asked to give a modern and colloquial spin to Delhi’s road signs. 11 entries were shortlisted from among thousands of submissions, and these have been depicted on the car, along with the signatures of the winning students as well as the artist trio.
The third installment of the Nano: Art-in-Motion series seeks to encourage and empower young artists and creative people to demonstrate their creativity via the Tata Nano and use it as a canvas for their lives. The organisers believe the Nano is a fun car that syncs well with art being about having fun with colors, creativity and personal expression. The idea is to showcase a series of Tata Nanos that would display theme-based imagery to further promote the personality of the brand as a personal symbol.
