Force Motors inaugurated their new Chennai plant today. Created and fully operational in just 7 months the plant, spread over 1,00,000 sq ft has the capacity to produce and test up to 20,000 engines annually.  Force Motors’ Chennai plant will build engines and transmissions for the BMW’s 3 Series, 3 Series Gran Tourismo, 5 Series, 7 Series,  X1, X3 and X5.

The inauguration was conducted at the hands of Anant Geete, Union Cabinet Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Sector Enterprises, and in the presence of Prasan Firodia, MD, Force Motors, Ralf Hattler, Global Head – powertrain, BMW AG, Force Motors Chairman, Abhay Firodia, and Robert Frittrang, MD, BMW India among others. 
Force Motors also plan on opening a second facility in Chennai in the future, and two more plants across the country bringing their total count to fifteen.
