Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) has launched the new 4th generation CR-V in India.
The new car will also be assembled in India for the first time at HCIL’s manufacturing facility in Greater Noida, UP. The new CR-V is offered with a 2.0 litre engine has a maximum power output of 156 PS at 6,500 RPM and maximum torque of 190 Nm at 4,300 RPM. The 2.4 litre engine option has a maximum power output of 190 PS at 7,000 RPM and maximum torque of 226 Nm at 4,400 RPM.
Transmission options include a six-speed manual transmission in the 2.0 litre variant and a five-speed automatic transmission in the 2.0 litre and 2.4 litre variants (with paddle shifts on the 2.4 litre to be used in the manual mode). The 2.0 litre variant is available with 2WD (two-wheel drive) only, while the 2.4 litre variant has Honda’s Real Time on-demand 4WD system. Exterior changes include wraparound HID projector headlamps with washers, redesigned tail lamps, a shark fin antenna, and 10-spoke 17” allow wheels. On the inside, there are dual-tone Sienna Beige interiors with leather upholstery; ‘One Motion Dive Down’ full-flat-folding rear seats; and a 5” “intelligent” multi-information display (i-MID) with a customisable wallpaper, steering controls (including cruise control), audio/HFT information in the 2.4 litre AVN (audio video navigation) version, and rear camera display. The intelligent AVN system with a 6.1” touchscreen offered in the 2.4 litre AVN variant has turn-by-turn navigation, a DVD/CD player, iPod and USB connectivity, bluetooth/handsfree telephone connectivity, and rear camera display.
Ex-showroom Delhi prices for the new CR-V start at 19.95 lakhs for the 2.0 litre MT (manual transmission) and go up to 23.85 lakhs for the 2.4 litre AT with AVN. Check out the March 2013 issue of Car India for our first drive report of the CRV, in Udaipur.
