Jaguar Cars Ltd, the wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Motors, have agreed to a close technology transfer with the F1 Team Williams to develop the C-X75.

15-wed-ci-june-2011_3315-wed-ci-june-2011_34Tata Motors chief Carl-Peter Forster along with Sir Frank Williams of Williams F1 announced the alliance in London. Designed by Ian Callum, the hybrid was first featured at the Paris Motor Show in 2010 as a concept car. Only 250 units will be built between 2013 and 2015 at Coventry, England, and will be priced at about Rs 5 crore.

15-wed-ci-june-2011_35The four-wheel drive super car will be powered by a 1.6-litre engine coupled with two turbo plus electric motors for each axle. The hi-tech powertrain will use three modes: all electric, hybrid and a full performance one, which will allow a top speed of up to 200 mph. It boasts of a sub-three second 0-60 mph time and attains the 100 mph mark in less than six. In line with the green trend, the car will emit as little as 99 kg/km of CO2.The C-X75 will be available with a plug-in facility and claims a 30 mile range in the all-electric mode backed by a 200 kg lithium Ion battery bank. Along with its hybrid attributes, the C-X75 will adorn super car features like the F1 inspired super rigid carbon fibre chassis, electronically controlled aerodynamic exterior, carbon composite body panels and carbon ceramic brakes.
