The 2019 Volkswagen Polo and Vento have been launched in India and the best part is that they are available at no extra cost. In the 10 years that it has been on sale (an anniversary that was celebrated in August 2019) the Polo has sold over 2.5 lakh units.

So, of course, VW India have decided to update the Polo and Vento to make them more current and ensure that they remains relevant in today’s market. It isn’t all-new though, as this iteration of the Polo is just a mildly updated version of the model currently on sale. So, the changes are strictly cosmetic, with new bumpers and front grille, fresh alloys, and changes to the lighting fixtures. Sunset Red, Reflex Silver, Candy White, Carbon Steel, Lapiz Blue and Toffee Brown are the colour option for the new Polo and the Vento. The cabin has been updated slightly with a new interior trim and a sprinkling of added gizmos. Furthermore, the new rear bumper with diffuser has been added to give it an even better appeal. There is a new GT Line model that sports a black roof, GT Line side foil and fender badge, Black ORVM caps and rear spoiler.
The basic body shape, underpinnings, engine, transmission, suspension and all the other crucial bits are basically identical. So you will still get the option of the 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol mated to a five-speed manual and 1.2-litre in-line-four petrol in the hatch’s GT guise mated to a seven-speed automatic gearbox. In terms of diesel options, there’s 1.5-litre four-cylinder paired with a five-speed manual transmission and available in two states of tune – the 90-hp standard option and the 110-hp GT TDi variant.

The new Polo and Vento will comprise of all the mandatory safety features under the AIS 145 norms which include speed alarm, rear parking sensors, seat belt warning and dual airbags. The cars get a four-year standard vehicle warranty (or up to 1,00,000 kms) and free road-side assistance for a period of four years.
While there an all-new Polo is doing the rounds in Europe, this model is over four metres in length, so will not come to India where sub-four meter benefits apply. Instead, the VW group, led by Škoda India, will develop a fresh hatch model based on the MQB platform that will serve as the backbone for both a future Fabia and Polo.
As mentioned earlier, the new cars come for the same price as the existing models. The Polo starts at Rs 5.82 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.88 lakh for the highest variant, while the new Vento starts at Rs 8.76 lakh and goes up to Rs 14.99 lakh for the top of the line variant.
