After months of teasing from the Sant’Agata based supercar maker, Lamborghini have finally confirmed the new flagship V12 monster the new Aventador SVJ. They claim that the new model will have the best weight-to-power ratio.
There have been many iterations of the Aventador over the years – Roadster, SV, SV Roadster, and more recently the S, and S Roadster. Lamborghini have also made special versions with underpinnings based on the Aventador in the Veneno and Centenario, which boasted more power than the Aventador while also being even lighter. Very select clientèle with pockets deep enough were among the lucky few to own one.
The new Aventador SVJ gets its name from the famed Miura P 400 Jota with the ‘Jota’ representing the pronunciation of the letter J in Spanish. The Miura Jota was built to conform with the FIA’s Appendix J racing regulations. It was claimed to be 363 kg lighter and more powerful at a region of 420-445 PS. The prototype Jota suffered an unfortunate accident and burned to a crisp. Lamborghini built a further six examples of the Miura now, called the P 400 SV/J, and Lamborghini offered to upgrade more cars from their original spec to the SVJ specification.
We expect that, just like its predecessor, the Aventador SVJ will be a limited-edition model with its V12 motor pumping out more anger and aggression than the standard Aventador S. We can only speculate that the new SVJ will deliver around 800 PS and 700 Nm from the 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12. Power will be sent to all four wheels through the traditional seven-speed single-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system. The SVJ will also boast the Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA) active aerodynamic system which made its début in the Huracán Performante. The Aventador will also be significantly lighter with the adoption of the Forged Composites also seen in the hardcore baby Performante. The car will also sit on specially developed Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres for more of an edge on the race track.
Lamborghini Aventador S
Lamborghini have been testing the new more extreme Aventador SVJ at the fearsome Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany with the aim to beat the record time for a production car set by the ‘widowmaker’ Porsche 911 GT2 RS at 6’47.25. Its sibling, the Huracán Performante, achieved a 6’52.01 at the ring which is the second fastest production car time around the famed ‘Green Hell’. Lamborghini are confident that the new Aventador SVJ will reclaim the title of producing the fastest car around the famed circuit.
