Volvo, in conjunction with performance division Polestar, have revealed their most powerful production car yet – and it’s the hybrid XC90 T8 Twin Engine.
The XC90 T8 Twin Engine is Volvo’s most advanced luxury hybrid seven-seater offering high levels of comfort, ergonomics and safety for up to seven passengers while keeping performance up there and emissions and fuel consumption in check.
The new XC90 T8 Polestar uses the same Drive-E 2.0-litre turbo-supercharged in-line four but with the performance map taking output up by 13 PS and 40 Nm to 334 PS and 440 Nm. Net peak output of the hybrid driveline, as a result, is now 421 PS equivalent and a humongous 680 Nm of torque; over a third of which is made available from single-digit revs.
With the Polestar upgrade, the 0-100 km/h time drops down to 5.5 seconds, while the 43 km of pure electric range and fuel consumption of as low as 47.62 km/l still stand true.
Volvo Auto India will launch the T8 Excellence in India later this year. Later on, you can check with your dealer about when the blue badge kit arrives.
