Toyota have issued a recall of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder with regards to a fault with the seat belt shoulder height adjuster.
The recall is for about 1,000 units of the Urban Cruiser. The company also manufactures the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara in the same plant in Bidadi, Karnataka. Both cars share the same mechanical parts albeit the cosmetic differences. It is likely that the Grand Vitara might also be recalled for the same issue. As of now, no reports of failure have surfaced for the faulty part.
The company will reach out to the customers through service centres and an inspection will be carried out, and if a defect is detected, the faulty part will be replaced. The Urban Cruiser Hyryder comes with two engine options – a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder, petrol-hybrid engine coupled to an e-CVT and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system mated to a five-speed manual/six-speed automatic. The hybrid variant makes 92.45 hp and 122 Nm of torque and the petrol engine makes 103.06 hp and 136.8 Nm of torque.
The Urban Cruiser Hyryder base model starts at a price of Rs 10.48 lakh and the top model is for Rs 17.19 lakh, the hybrid range starts from Rs 15.11 lakh and the top model is priced at Rs 18.99 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
