Tata Motors officially launched a more powerful version of the Safari Storme with the Varicor 400 engine. Priced at Rs 13.25 lakh (ex showroom, Delhi) for the 4×2 variant and Rs 14.6 lakh (ex showroom, Delhi) for the 4×4 variant, the Storme Varicor will only be available in the top VX trim.
The Varicor 400 is a 2.2-litre, DOHC engine, making 156 PS and 400Nm of torque, mated to a new six-speed manual transmission. The Varicor 400 gets all the features present in the face-lifted Safari Strome, which includes an audio system with USB and Bluetooth, rear parking sensors, steering-mounted controls, and rear passenger arm rest. In terms of aesthetics, the only change comes in the form of the new Varicor 400 badging.
