Land Rover have officially introduced the Range Rover Evoque Convertible – the world’s first all-season, all-road convertible SUV.
The new Evoque Convertible is, quite simply, a drop-top Evoque coupé SUV. The Evoque has proven itself to be just as it’s name suggests: evocative. It packs stunning design elements and looks every bit as aggressive and modern of a contemporary compact SUV should. It’s Range Rover heritage is retained with TerrainResponse drive modes letting passengers enjoy the most of this SUV. Of course, no one will be going mud-plugging or kicking up dust with the top down, then again, it takes just 18 seconds for the roof to switch between covered and topless. That’s faster than, never mind… Should there be a mud-storm or rainfall incoming, the roof goes back up in just 21 seconds, operational at up to 50 km/h. It also happens to be the widest and longest fabric roof fitted to any convertible, they say. It still manages a 251-litre boot, in case you were wondering.
Under the bonnet is the new Ingenium 2.0-litre turbo-diesel (that débuted in the Jaguar XE) with either 163 or 180 PS. The Si4 turbo-petrol continues with 240 PS.
Land Rover say the SUV market will grow by 20 per cent over the next five years and this new addition should surely keep them ahead of the game. The Evoque Convertible will go on sale in Spring 2016 as a 2017 model.
