The latest generation of the Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV has been launched.
This generation has two models; the GLC 200 and the GLC 220 d 4MATIC. They are priced at Rs 52.75 lakh and Rs 57.75 lakh respectively; all prices are ex-showroom, India.
The most talked-about update in the new Mercedes-Benz GLC is the MBUX intelligent multimedia system. In addition to touchscreen controls, the car’s infotainment also features a new navigation system and intelligent voice control. Mercedes-Benz claim that MBUX will change the way we use voice prompts to interact with the car’s multimedia. The car will respond to the ‘Hey Mercedes’ prompt. Quite similar to the voice assistants we are used to on Apple and Android devices. The new GLC also includes What3Words location technology. This tech uses three unique words to identify a location within a square area on the map, thus eliminating errors caused due to mispronunciation while using voice navigation. It will be interesting to see how well What3Words copes with India’s navigation demands. The long list of new features in the GLC include Active Braking Assist, ambience lighting, wireless charging and Midline sound system.
Powering the GLCs are the new-generation BS VI-compliant engines; M 264 four-cylinder petrol and the OM 654 four-cylinder diesel. The former makes 197 hp and a peak torque of 320 Nm while the diesel mill churns out 194 hp and a peak torque of 400 Nm.
