BMW bring the TwinPower Turbo petrol engines to the X3 and X5 in India.
BMW have launched their latest offerings for the Indian market, the X3 and X5 with petrol engine options. Both the vehicles will be locally produced at the BMW plant in Chennai. Both the vehicles will be on sale in both diesel and petrol variants.
BMW TwinPower Turbo technology is an extremely innovative design that doles out a more committed power delivery that is available instantly on demand even at low engine speeds.
The BMW X3 xDrive28i has been launched in the ‘xLine’ trim level. It houses a 2.0 litre, four-cylinder, in-line, TwinPower Turbo petrol engine that takes 6.5 seconds to haul the car to 100 km/h from a standstill. The engine produces a healthy 245 PS at 5,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 350 Nm between 1,250 and 4,800 rpm which is enough to cater to your on-road and off-road motoring needs. Putting the power down to the road is the xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system fed by the eight-speed Steptronic transmission.
The BMW X5 xDrive35i is available in the ‘Design Pure Experience’ trim level with five seats. The X5 comes with a 3.0 litre, six-cylinder, in-line, TwinPower Turbo petrol engine which hauls it from a standstill to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds (the same time taken by the X3 to reach that speed). The engine makes a solid 306 PS between 5,800 and 6,400 rpm and a meaty 400 Nm of torque between 1,200 and 5,000 rpm. The eight-speed Sport Steptronic automatic transmission makes quick and efficient work of the gear shifts.
The X3 xDrive28i xLine is priced at Rs 54.90 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and the X5 xDrive35i at Rs 73.50 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
