While some times customers are harried by after-sales service of manufacturers, occasionally manufacturers display a unique way of connecting with their customers. A few years ago Chevrolet USA displayed a song about the Chevrolet Spark written by one of their younger customers at every one of their outlets in the USA. Now Hyundai has taken a step further and sent a message to space – a hand written message from an astronaut’s daughter, Stephanie to her father at the International Space Station (ISS).
In line with their new campaign, ‘A Message to Space’ Hyundai dispatched 11 Genesis cars to the Delamar Dry Lake, Nevada, USA to write a message with their tire tracks, spanning over an area of 5.5 sq km. The site was selected after a careful review of the geographical and meteorological factors and a team of drivers and engineers were sent to Nevada. It has been recognized as the largest tire track image by Guinness World Records and is claimed to be twice the size of New York City’s Central Park. The hand written message could be seen from the ISS and the astronaut captured the image above.
Commenting upon this out-of-the world project, Scott Noh, Head of Overseas Marketing Group, Hyundai Motor Company said, “Keeping in line with Hyundai Motor’s corporate vision of being a ‘lifetime partner in automobiles and beyond’, the campaign highlights our philosophy of caring for customers through emotional interaction and becoming a brand beyond simply a means of transportation. Although sending a message to space with our Genesis cars was not an easy challenge, it enabled us to demonstrate our caring vision to our customers.”
