Ford India set the tone ahead of the upcoming Auto Expo 2016 by unveiling the iconic Mustang
It has been 50 years since the car was launched internationally, but finally, Indian car enthusiasts will have a chance to own the Mustang. The car will go on sale in India in the second quarter of 2016.
The new Mustang is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine making more than 420 PS and 529 Nm, with a claimed top speed of 250 km/h. The standard performance package includes stiffer suspension, bigger brakes, and better axle ratios. The car has a selectable driving mode that allows drivers to choose between Normal, Sport, Snow/Wet, and Track modes. In a claimed first from OEMs, the Mustang is equipped with an electronic line lock that automatically locks the front brakes and releases the rear ones, allowing the car to spin like a race car would. MyColor gauges and ambient lighting allow drivers to customise the color of the interior lighting as per their preferences.
Speaking on the occasion, Nigel Harris, President, Ford India, said that the Ford Mustang historically signified “optimism and confidence for people all over the world”, and expressed his delight at bringing “a modern interpretation of the American icon” to Ford customers in India for the first time, who he believed would “value the style, performance, and heritage that the Mustang name brings”.
