Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M&M) has launched the Xylo H-series powered by the mHawk engine, which also duty in the Scorpio and the XUV500.
The H-series is available in five variants: H4, H4 ABS, H8 ABS, H8 ABS+Airbags and the fully-loaded H9, which features voice command technology (VCT), cruise control and a digital drive assist system among other creature comforts.
The H-series is powered by the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine developing 120 PS and 280 Nm with an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 14.02 kpl (for the BSIV variant). The top-end Xylo E9 was powered by the mHawk engine, but now the H-series powered by the mHawk engine (which is also the reason for the H-series nomenclature) replaces the erstwhile E-series. The Xylo range now includes the H-series as well as the D-Series (D2 and D4) powered by the mDI CRDe engine.
The all-new transmission (5MT 320) is said to provide smoother gear shifts and better driving comfort. All the additional features are offered with no increase in price, thereby serving as good value for money for M&M’s customers.
Speaking at the launch of the Xylo H-series, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, M&M said that the Xylo occupied the position of class-leading space and comfort since its introduction in 2009, and the mHawk engine would boost its performance and move it a notch up in its segment. He was certain that the twin benefits of increased power and efficiency would make the H-series popular among personal buyers.
The Xylo H-series will be available in the new Dolphin Grey color (in the H8 and H9 variants) apart from the current range of five colors. The H-Series starts at a price of Rs 8.10 lakh (ex showroom Pune, for the BSIV variant).
