Volkswagen Group companies, Bentley and Porsche, will soon be sharing the same platform for future models.
Currently, Porsche engineers are busy developing a new platform which is derived from the Porsche Panamera for future models and the same platform will also form the basis for future Bentley models. The new platform, that will be made using a mix of steel and aluminium, will provide better weight distribution in comparison to the current crop of Bentley cars as it will allow the engine to be placed further back in the engine bay. These new models will also be equipped with VW Group’s new generation of V12 engines that will replace the current 6.75litre L-Series V8 engine, which will be phased out in 2013.
