Home / Home / BRIO-BASED SEDAN FROM HONDA

AG9_2012SSPY-PICS1Honda are poised to throw their hat in the entry-level sedan ring.

The company has been tremendously successful with its bigger sedan, the Honda City, and now hopes to perpetuate the trend with a more affordable sedan.

The Japanese automobile major is said to be working on the development of a new sedan for emerging markets, using the Brio hatchback platform. Unlike their competitors, Honda will not just foist a boot on to the hatchback; instead, the two cars will look completely different even if they share some of the components and body parts. Just like the City and the Jazz, which share the platform, but have nothing else in common visually.

The Brio-based sedan will be less than four metres in length, which will give the company excise benefi ts, which, in turn, will help it keep the price low. This implies that most probably the sedan would be positioned below the Jazz. We expect the new sedan to be offi cially launched in 2013 in both petrol and diesel variants.
