Lamborghini have debuted the third generation of their track-only Huracán GT3 Evo2. The car is heavily based on the road-going Huracán STO. Here is everything you need to know about the GT3 Evo2 that makes it the most potent Huracán ever made.
Lamborghini have dialed it up to eleven when it comes to the styling. Complying to FIA’s 2022 technical regulations, the car features all-new aerodynamics. The full carbon-fibre bodywork sports new splitters, diffuser and underbody aero. The air scoops and the rear wing are derived from the Huracán STO.
The car now gets a redesigned roll cage with two rear pillars and new carbon-kevlar honeycomb side panels that we’ve already seen on the flagship Essenza SCV12. Its plexiglass windows have been fixed to the carbon-fibre door panels for extra rigidity and strength.
Coming to the engine, it is the same 5.2-litre, naturally-aspirated V10 that generates 640 horsepower and all of this firepower is sent straight to the rear wheels. With great power comes great stopping duties and the Huracán GT3 EVO2 is equipped with updated calipers and pads that have been developed by Squadra Corse, Lamborghini’s performance division. These have been optimized for delivering peak performance in both sprint and endurance racing conditions. In terms of electronics, the car gets traction control (TCS) and anti-lock brakes (ABS) only.
Lamborghini will begin delivering the EVO2 to customers by the second half of 2022. Additionally, customers who own the Huracán GT3 EVO can upgrade their cars with the aero kit of the new EVO2. The Huracán EVO2’s track debut is slated for the 2023 Daytona 24 Hours race.
