Tata Motors is planning to open exclusive showrooms for the Nano in smaller towns, taking a leaf out of its immensely successful Ace mini truck, which is sold through 600 standalone stores across the country, in addition to the normal dealerships.

As of now, Tata Motors is marketing the Nano through the company’s 617 regular outlets and 151 Tata Authorised Service Centres. Potential customers can also experience the car at approximately 210 access points accross the country. Additionally, Tata Motors has also tied up with retailing giants Future Group in a scheme where customers can book Nanos at select Big Bazaar outlets. In a statement given to PTI, a Tata Motors spokesperson said, “We are exploring appointing full-fledged dealerships, only for the Tata Nano, in small towns.” The company is however yet to announce the timeline of launch and the number of these upcoming exclusive standalone Tata Nano outlets in the country. Since its delivery started in July 2009, Tata Motors has so far sold 1,00,782 units of the Nano out of which 70,432 units were sold in 2010-11.
