Compact SUVs have become a rage globally and the Audi have headed strong into the blizzard with the new Q2.

After pulling the Q3 from the line-up, the Audi Q2 40 TFSI quattro is now the entry Q model and packs a whole of kit for the price. The Q2 is based on the MQB (Modularen Querbaukasten, or modular transverse matrix) that underpins the smaller models in the Group’s portfolio. It is a 4.3-metre long car, measuring 1.8 metres across and 1.5 metres tall, with a compact 2.6-metre wheelbase. The new Audi Q2 40 TFSI quattro continues the petrol-only approach for the German premium carmaker in India, packing one of the more potent powertrain choices.

The Audi Q2 40 TFSI quattro gets the 2.0-litre, in-line four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine, with a peak 190 hp between 4,200 and 6,000 rpm and a hefty 320 Nm of torque peaking between 1,500 and 4,180 rpm. The output flows through the S tronic seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission to the front-biased quattro all-wheel drive system. With that sort of output, the Audi Q2 40 TFSI quattro can sprint from zero to 100 km/h in a claimed 6.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 228 km/h.

There isn’t just one, though. Audi India have introduced the new Q2 in five variants across two lines starting with the Design line and the Standard model priced at Rs 34.99 lakh. The Premium is next, priced at Rs 40.89 lakh, followed by the Premium Plus I at Rs 44.64 lakh. The Advanced line sees the Premium Plus II at Rs 45.14 lakh and the top model, the Technology, at Rs 48.89 lakh, all ex-showroom.

A panoramic glass sunroof is optionally available with the standard model for an additional Rs 1.5 lakh.
