Home / Home / Tata motors launches Indica eV2

Apart from the new colour options, the look of the Indica eV2 hardly differs from the ordinary Indica but under the hood, it has a completely new power plant.

The 1.4 litre CR4 common rail diesel engine produces 70PS of power and 140Nm torque while it is available with a MPFI petrol engine. Tata has claimed a fuel efficiency figure of 25kmpl for the diesel car based on ARAI figures. The eV2 has redesigned wheel arches and sports alloy wheels. Also new are the tail lamps and the rear bumper. The eV2 has a new ECU, which Tata explain is the main reason for the improved fuel efficiency. The gear ratios have also been changed when compared to the original Indica. It has a starter motor protector and the car weighs 10kg less. Tata has offered the new ‘ Auto-Drive’ assist and the ‘Clutch-To-Start’ features in the eV2. The Auto-Drive assist prevents the engine from stalling while climbing up, while the Clutch-To-Start feature requires the clutch to be completely pressed in order to crank the engine, thus preventing re-cranking when the engine is running. Other functional features include an tilt adjustable steering wheel, key-less entry, a USB port, Bluetooth enabled music system, front and rear fog lamps and a rear parcel tray, but are only available in the highest trim level. The diesel variant of the car is priced between Rs 3.95 – 4.77 lakhs and the petrol’s price range is between 2.95 – 3.58 lakhs. (All prices ex-showroom Delhi).
