2017 Car India Isuzu MU-X launch web 1

Japanese heavy-duty car makers Isuzu have taken the wraps off the 2017 version of their mu-X SUV. Priced from Rs 23.99 lakh (ex-Delhi) the mu-X will be assembled at Isuzu’s facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. This seven-seater from Isuzu is the brand’s successor to its MU7 here in India, making it the most premium offering from their stable, and the de facto flagship of Isuzu’s line up in the country.

The mu-X is as butch and aggressive looking as you would expect a full-blown SUV to be, characteristics that are enhanced by its chunky 17” diamond-cut alloy wheels. As with most modern cars, the mu-X comes with all the bells and whistles such as projector headlamps, LED DRLs, and chrome-finished accents. The mu-X also gets a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment with Bluetooth connectivity and more, automatic climate control, six-way adjustable driver’s seat, keyless entry and a start/stop button. Additional features include a 10” drop-down entertainment screen, 8 speakers, steering mounted controls and a-c vents in all three rows. The seats in the second and third rows are individually foldable and flip-foldable with one touch tumble to allow quick access to the maximum possible space.

Safety kit in the mu-X includes the likes of ABS with EBD, traction control, hill-start assist, dual front air-bags, emergency break assist and more. The car comes with disc brakes on all four wheels, and reverse parking camera as well. The mu-X is powered by a 3.0-litre, in-line four turbo-diesel producing 177 PS @ 3,600 rpm and 380 Nm of torque @ 1,800-2,800 rpm mated to a five-speed auto ‘box. There is no manual transmission version of the mu-X available in the Indian market at the present time. The mu-X comes with five link rear suspension and 220 mm of ground clearance. Put together this results in off-road capabilities such as a 30.1° approach angle, 22.4° ramp breakover angle, and a departure angle of 25.1°. The car is available in two variants – one with a 4×2 and the other with a 4×4 configuration.

Price breakdown of the mu-X (both ex-showroom, Delhi):

4×2: 23.99 lakh
4×4: 25.99 lakh
