Volvo Car India debuted its first all-electric vehicle in India. At Rs 55.90 lakh, ex-showroom, the brand-new Volvo XC40 Recharge electric SUV has been introduced. It is the first high-end electric car built in India. Bookings for the product will open tomorrow on the company’s official website for a nominal fee of Rs 50,000, and deliveries will start in October.

The same Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform that supports the normal XC40 also serves as the foundation for the new Volvo XC40 Recharge. It is propelled by two electric motors that together produce 300 kw and an incredible 660 Nm of peak torque. This electric SUV has a top speed cap of 180 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.

An integrated 78kWh lithium-ion battery pack powers the XC40 Recharge. According to Volvo, a single charge will give it a 418 km range (WLTP cycle). Furthermore, a 150kW DC fast charger can fully charge this Swedish luxury electric SUV from 0% to 80% in just 40 minutes, compared to about 8 hours for a typical 11kW AC charger.

It gains a new Android-based infotainment system with linked car technology, a panoramic sunroof, ADAS, etc. in terms of features. The new Volvo XC40 Recharge will be put together in India at the business’ Hosakote plant in Karnataka, not far from Bengaluru. This top-of-the-line electric SUV will compete with vehicles like the MINI Cooper SE, Kia EV6, Audi e-Tron, BMW i4, and others.
