Volkswagen Motorsport India have been around for around six years now and have been a stepping stone for young and enthusiastic drivers to showcase their skills and talent. Volkswagen now join hands with Madras Motor Sport Club (MMSC) for the next three seasons starting from 2016. The Volkswagen Vento Cup 2016 will now be a part of the FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship. With this new association, MRF will be the new tyre partners for the 2016 Vento Cup.
The Vento Cup 2016 will run on the same lines as the previous season, with a total of 10 races across four rounds that will be hosted at three racing circuits which include the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore; Buddh International Circuit in Noida and Madras Motor Race Track in Chennai. Even the basic format of racing will remain the same.
The new set of drivers for the 2016 season will be selected through various go-karting events. The selection will be conducted across seven cities and will begin from the 20th of January 2016. People who are interested will have to visit one of the seven short-listed cities and have to participate in go-kart races. The winners will compete in one final round which will take place in Pune.

In 2016, we hope to accomplish the very things that Volkswagen Motorsport stands for – nurturing talent, cultivating racing skills and providing a strong platform for young racers in the country. So far we have nurtured over 75 racing drivers in India and have given international exposure through our global programmes to the champions and we are looking forward to extending this support to many more.”
