Volkswagen have decided to showcase three new vehicles – their new Indian compact sedan (ICS), the Passat and the Tiguan, at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo in February this year.
The Indian compact sedan is a sub four-metre sedan, which has been specifically designed for the Indian market. The ICS, expected to be called the Bora, will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Chakan, Pune.
Volkswagen will also unveil the latest iteration of their compact SUV, the Tiguan. The company has already launched the SUV in European markets and it created quite a buzz. Looking at its success, Volkswagen have finally decided to bring the Tiguan to Indian shores. .
The third product to be showcased at the Expo is the Passat GTE – an environment-friendly plug-in-hybrid car. The GTE will be powered by a 1.4-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine making 156 PS. Combined with the electric motor, the GTE churns out 218 PS and offers a total range of over 1,000 km. In all-electric mode the GTE will cover 50 km. The Passat GTE will also be a preview to the soon to be launched new Passat in India.
