Performance and Handling
After the disappointing design and styling of the Micra, the 1,467-cc oil-burner covers up the flaws and makes a good impression. Without a lag, the engine delivers linear power and torque giving a peppy feel to the drive. 62 PS of peak power and 160 Nm of maximum torque help the Micra do 0-100 km/h in 15.21 seconds. Its outright acceleration is exactly equal to the more powerful Polo’s (75 PS and 180 Nm) and is much quicker than the Figo’s (68 PS and 160 Nm) that takes 17.8 seconds for the same run. However, if you look at the roll-on figures in the fourth gear from 40 km/h to 100 km/h, the Polo leads at 14.82 seconds, followed by the Micra at 15.72 seconds and the Figo lags far behind at 20.96 seconds. The Polo excels here and gives us a clear idea of its better driveability than the competitors. Considering the fact that the Polo is 200 kilograms heavier than the Micra and still beats it in the roll-on figures is testimony enough to the brilliance of German engineering.
Talking of handling, the Polo once again turns out to be a superior option. Excellent road grip, low-slung structure and extreme precision in corners make it the best handling machine of the trio. The Figo impresses here with its very smooth gearshifts, good stability through corners and decent ride quality even on bumpy roads. The Nissan Micra takes a back seat with its poor, soft suspension and tall structure that bring in considerable body roll. Also, the steering wheel feels light and lacks adequate feedback.

Creature Comforts and Space
Comfort and space are two of the most important factors when it comes to hatchbacks. The Micra as well as the Figo offer good space in the cabin at front as well as at the rear. The Polo disappoints when it comes to the rear knee room and probably forms the only downside of the car. The boot space, though, is the maximum in the Figo at 284 litres, followed closely by the Polo at 280 litres and the Micra at 251 litres.
When it comes to comfort, the Polo excels once again with seats that offer good support to the thighs and back with their bucket-like shape. The Micra and Figo are equipped with seats that are more inclined towards being flat and thus do not match up to the comfort of the Polo. The other very important creature comfort offered by the Polo is the steering wheel adjustability for reach and rake while the other two offer only rake adjustability.
