Tata Motors have launched their new hatchback – the Tiago in Mumbai today, with a sticker starting at Rs 3.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
The Tiago, formerly known as Zica is Tata’s latest entrant to the highly competitive Indian hatchback segment, and the first car promoted by newly signed superstar brand ambassador – Lionel Messi. The diesel version of the Tiago starts at Rs 3.94 lakh, ex-showroom in Delhi. “The Tiago reflects our passion and commitment to bring exciting, technology driven cars into the market,” said Guenter Butschek, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Motors.
Engine wise, the Tiago comes with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated Revotron petrol engine producing 85 PS and 114 Nm of torque, and a 1.05-litre turbocharged Revotorq diesel power-plant which churns out 70 PS and 140 Nm, both mated to five-speed manual gearboxes. There are also two drive modes, ‘Eco’ and ‘City’ to choose from for greater fuel efficiency.
The Tiago also packs some serious safety tech with ABS, EBD, Corner Stability Control (CSC) and dual front airbags all available on the top-end variant. The car also packs an infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and app linking capabilities such as navigation and Juke-Car. “We are confident that the Tiago’s strong and distinct character will make it stand out in this highly popular but immensely competitive segment,” said Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors.
