The much publicized SUV crossover from Skoda has just gone on sale in Europe and will be coming to Indian shores at the beginning of next year. The Yeti will be available in front-wheel drive as well as all-wheel drive versions when it goes on sale here. The Yeti has compact proportions for a SUV with a wheelbase of just 2578mm and length, width and height of 4233mm, 1793mm and 1691mm respectively. Going by the fondness that Indians have for diesel 4x4s, the SUV is being projected as a big seller.
Expect the Yeti to be introduced in the country at a price point of around Rs 13-15 lakhs. The SUV is being offered with both petrol and diesel engines in Europe and its Indian versions are expected to feature the 2.0-litre TDI Common Rail Engine for sure. The Yeti has 180mm of ground clearance and very low approach and departure making it quite adept at handling no-road situations. The rear seats fold flat to the floor liberating a massive 1760 litres of luggage space. As a crossover SUV at this price is virtually non-existent in India, the Yeti will create an all-new segment of affordable, modern 4x4s which make a lot of sense in the domestic scenario.
