The iconic luxury car manufacturer has decided to debut the Black Badge version of their most expensive car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. One thing is for certain, Rolls-Royce won’t have to travel very far from home for this particular unveil.

The Dawn is perhaps the most luxurious open-top tourer that money can buy today, and Black Badge is an exclusive line of completely bespoke Rolls-Royce cars that are made to cater to the young and dynamic patrons of modern-day luxury. Following that philosophy, the British marque has played its hand well. The car will be presented in a deep shade of black following an intense painting and polishing process. Keeping in line with the styling of the car, the rear deck has been finished in black leather while the roof is available only in black canvas which opens in a ‘Silent Ballet’.

Keen to project the Black Badge as an alter-ego to the Rolls-Royce brand, the dark theme has been extended to various parts of the car including the ‘RR’ logo whose colours have been inverted. Even the Spirit of Ecstacy has undergone a similar treatment – now sporting a black chrome finish. The car also features a tribute to Sir Malcolm Campbell (one of Rolls-Royce’s great pioneer patrons) in the form of his famous ‘Infinity’ logo embroidered in the rear interior.

The powerful 6.6-litre, twin-turbo V12 from the Dawn now generates 600 PS and a peak torque of 840 Nm, now available from 1,500 rpm. The power and torque have gone up by 30 PS and 20 Nm respectively. The engine is mated to a ZF eight-speed gear box. The engineers have also made sure that the extra grunt can be reined in by increasing the brake size an inch in diameter.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed seems to be the epicentre of motoring activity this weekend with other manufacturers also lining up their new cars for a debut.
