The Renault-Nissan have been consistently chipping away at the numbers and the company have produced a million vehicles now.

Renault-Nissan announced the roll our of their 1 millionth vehicle, a Nissan Micra from the company’s Oragdam facility in Chennai. The facility which started out in 2010 was further strengthened with an investment of Rs 160 crore. As of now the company has grown to be India’s second largest car exporter with more than 600,000 units shipped to 106 countries since 2010. During this period the annual production has risen from 75,000 units in 2010 to over 200,000 in 2015.

Commenting on the achievement, Chairman and VP, Christian Mardrus said, “I congratulate our workforce in Chennai for achieving a significant landmark in the ongoing evolution of this important plant. Our Chennai facility has, and will continue, to play a fundamental role in the development of our business in India. Today’s milestone reflects the popularity of Nissan and Renault products in India and export markets, as well as the skill and dedication of our staff. It is also a measure of the high level of support we have enjoyed from the Tamil Nadu government.”
