Renault India have introduced the option of an automatic gearbox in the new petrol version of the popular SUV, the Duster.
The Duster already has the option of a six-speed AMT gearbox on the diesel variant. Renault India are gearing up to present the Duster petrol with the option of an X-Tronic CVT sourced from alliance partner Nissan. The petrol-powered Duster range is now powered by an all new 1.5-litre H4K (multi-point injection) petrol engine replacing the old 1.6-litre motor, which now produces 106 PS and 142 Nm. The new CVT gearbox will come with four conventional gear-lever positions: Parking (P), Reverse (R), Neutral (N), Drive (D) and a six-speed manual mode option. The Duster with the CVT gearbox will be available in RxS variant. The other petrol variants of the Duster are paired to a five-speed manual gearbox.
Commenting on the launch of the new Duster petrol range and the Duster CVT, Sumit Sawhney, Country CEO and Managing Director, Renault India Operations said, “We have a clear goal of growing the Renault brand in India. Towards this, we are strategically strengthening our product range, expanding our network reach and initiating pioneering measures to ensure customer delight. Duster plays a pivotal role in our product portfolio and with the introduction of the new petrol range with CVT, Renault has the widest offering in the segment, enabling us to best cater to evolving customer needs. We are confident that the new Duster petrol range with the CVT will resonate well with discerning Indian customers in the fastest growing vehicle segment in India.”
