The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider was unveiled at the North American International Show in Detroit, this turbo straight-four supercar was seen by the world for the first time.
The 4C Spider’s design is inspired from its coupé sibling, but there are a few changes that set the two apart. The Spider sports an ultra-lightweight monocoque chassis, a unilateral carbon fibre windscreen, body-coloured engine hood with three functional heat extractors, aerodynamically tuned spoiler, optional carbon fibre hard top, new alloy wheels, all-new titanium exhaust system, and a new Giallo (Yellow) paint scheme.
The 4C Spider is powered by the same all-aluminium, 1750 TBi engine, which produces 240 PS and 350 Nm of torque. The performance of the U.S-spec 4C Spider is on par with the hardtop model, and clocks the 0-100km/h milestone in 4.1 seconds, and moves on to attain a top 257.5km/h.
The production-spec 4C Spider will be produced at the Maserati plant in Modena, Italy. The car will go on sale in the UK in the summer, and the prices and other specifications will be announced closer to the launch. It isn’t likely to come to India, but we would like it too.
