Porsche will display to the world the new Panamera Turbo S at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month.
Positioned at the pinnacle of the range, the car will be powered by a 4.8-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine making 570 PS (50 PS more than the Panamera Turbo) and capable of a top speed of 309 km/h and a 0-100 km/h time of 3.8 seconds.
The distinctive appearance of the Panamera Turbo S is embellished by the new 20” 911 Turbo II wheels that are larger and significantly wider than the standard wheels on other models. The new ‘Palladium’ metallic exterior paint colour, available only on this model, lends it an air of exclusivity while enhancing its contours.
The inside of the car is a mix of sportiness and exclusivity, exuded by the standard dual-tone leather trim. The new interior package in Dark Burl Walnut includes a hint of red that gives a slightly cooler effect, as well as embossed Porsche crests on the front headrests. The powered front seats are 14-way adjustable and can be combined with the memory package to allow for excellent travel comfort. The memory package consists of seat surface extension, lumbar support, and electrical steering column adjustment. All seats include seat heating as standard.
The torque of the engine is 50 Nm higher at 750 Nm from 2,250-5,000 RPM, with overboost increasing peak output to 800 Nm. The engine skips individual cylinders when shifting up a gear, allowing the engine speed to fall faster and the clutch to engage quicker. The enhanced performance does not take a toll on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) fuel consumption figures which, at 9.8 km/l, are identical to those of the Panamera Turbo and are better than the previous model by more than 11%.
The Panamera Turbo S is equipped with a seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) gearshift system, Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive system, Sports Chrono package, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) Plus as standard. Overboost is activated in ‘Sport’, ‘Sport Plus’ and ‘Normal’ (during kickdown) modes, temporarily increasing turbocharger boost pressure for faster acceleration. The car is also equipped with race-tested Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) with yellow brake calipers.
The new Panamera Turbo S is available to order from Porsche Centres in the UK and Ireland, with prices starting at £131,049 (Rs 1.3 crore). The car is also fitted with a two-year Porsche Car Connect contract incorporating the Porsche Vehicle Tracking System (VTS) security package approved to Thatcham Category 5. Customers can also explore the potential of their new car through a complimentary course at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone. Deliveries of the right-hand models begin from January 2014.
