The Japanese manufacturer’s made-in-India sedan, the Sunny, is now available from Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) onwards. The price of the CVT variant has been dropped to a very accessible Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) – a steep drop of Rs 2 lakh – making it the most affordable CVT sedan in the country.
Commenting on the reason behind the price cut, Arun Malhotra, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India said, “Nissan always strives to offer innovative products to our customers with a compelling and competitive value proposition. The Nissan Sunny is our flagship sedan which we proudly “Make in India” at our Oragadam Plant in Chennai. Local production of this car enables significantly lower costs and this helps serve our customers faster with global levels of quality products. We pass on these benefits to our customers with very competitive prices for the Nissan Sunny, our popular premium sedan.”
The variants of the Sunny will be priced as follows.
Variant |
Price in Rs (ex-showroom, Delhi) |
Petrol XE |
6.99 lakh |
Petrol XL |
7.59 lakh |
Petrol XV CVT |
8.99 lakh |
Diesel XE |
7.49 lakh |
Diesel XL |
7.99 lakh |
Diesel XV |

This aggressive pricing from Nissan has changed the game for the Sunny as it used to compete with the Honda City, the Volkswagen Vento and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. With the current price, the Sunny is now capable of providing stiff competition to the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Volkswagen Ameo, Tata Zest, Toyota Platinum Etios and the Honda Amaze. This might encourage those people who are looking for a compact sedan to go for the Sunny. Especially those who prefer an automatic gearbox.
