Nissan India announced the launch of the Xtronic CVT on the XL variant of the Micra at an asking price of Rs 6.39 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). In line with Micra’s fifth anniversary celebrations, the company has also announced the Micra X-Shift CVT limited edition.
The XL variant is positioned a notch below the top end XV variant and inclusion of an automatic transmission in the mid variant has been done to make CVT accessible to a wider customer base. The car uses the fourth generation of CVT which now has revised internals to reduce frictional losses. The CVT is mated to the 1.2-litre petrol and produces a claimed efficiency of 19.34 km/l.
The limited edition Micra X-Shift will be available to 750 customers without any added cost to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Micra in India. In addition to the CVT, the X-Shift version features aesthetic additions like an armrest, LED scuff plates, blackened roof and side-skirt decals. The car also employs reverse parking sensors.
Commenting on the occasion Guillaume Sicard, President, Nissan India Operations said, “The demand for automatic cars has risen to over 3.5% in the last two years from less than 1% in FY12. Nissan is a pioneer when it comes to Xtronic CVT Technology and with the introduction of the XL grade in our CVT range; we aim to make this technology more accessible to our buyers.”
