Škoda’s popular executive sedan the Superb has been gone under the knife, and this new 2016 edition is now on sale. Starting at Rs 22.68 lakh (ex-Mumbai) the Superb comes with two engine options – a 180 PS 1.8-litre petrol and a 177 PS 2.0-litre diesel. Škoda claim that the engine options while remaining the same, now give up to 30% greater performance.
The Superb also gets new crystalline design elements on both the outside and in. Exterior changes included upgraded headlamps, a redesigned body more improved aerodynamics, and some structural changes to provide greater headroom and elbow room. Upgraded interiors include a new 6.5” touchscreen infotainment system with MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibilities, and a new a-c system among other things.
Speaking at the launch, Werner Eichhorn, Member of the Board, Sales & Marketing, Škoda said, “The new Superb is the flagship of Škoda’s model range, and demonstrates the brand’s expertise in design and engineering. It offers top-class technology with unbeatable comfort and space. Škoda has always convinced customers with its high degree of functionality, reliability and excellent value for money. With the new Superb, Škoda is now underlining these qualities with a modern, expressive and emotionally-rich design.”
