Images of the latest John Cooper Works (JCW) model of the iconic MINI have been launched by the revered British manufacturer. With the car’s official début at the 2014 North American International Auto Show (which will take place in Detroit) creeping ever closer, with January 13th slated as the starting point of the show, MINI seek to create a little bit of buzz before the full reveal.
As has been the trend through the illustrious history of John Cooper Works models for the MINI, this one too boast of superior performance levels, along with a generous dollop of curb appeal also thrown into the mix. The new JCW model is based on the 2014 MINI redesign, giving the team some extra width and a longer wheelbase to work with. Visually, the changes are quickly apparent as JCW have, true to form, developed a special body kit for their interpretation of the MINI.
Larger front intakes and a reworked grille are some of the most eye catching aspects of this concept , along with the ‘Bright Highways Grey’ paint job with the go faster stripes and offset by tasteful flashes of red. The sizeable spoiler at the back and the 18-inch wheels also enhance what is already a very glitzy appearance.
Many of you will be curious to see what the vital statistics are for the power plant that will bring this new JCW concept its thrust, well so are we! MINI however are as yet tight lipped on the subject, meaning we’ll have to wait till the car’s unveil at the North American International Auto Show until we finally get our hands on the juicy details. Although in an effort to further whet the appetite of JCW fans, MINI did state that along with all the visual elements, “An unmistakable engine soundtrack promises to share centre stage.”
