Czech car makers Skoda have been in India since 2001, and their flagship luxury sedan – the Superb, introduced originally a whole ten years ago, was one of their car models that took the Indian market by storm. Now, they have brought out an all new avatar of this car, which boasts of a variety of visual upgrades from its predecessors.

The new Superb is still powered by the same 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine that musters up 160 PS and 250 Nm of torque between 1500 – 4500 RPM, and the 140 PS 2.0-litre TDI diesel giving out torque figures of 320 Nm between 1750 – 2500 RPM. The car comes mated to a six speed manual or a seven speed twin-clutch DSG automatic for the petrol, and carries only a six speed DSG automatic transmission in the diesel option.

The changes then are mostly above the surface. Everything from the bumpers and radiator grill, to the fender and the bonnet, and even the Skoda badge itself has been reworked for this version of the car. The superb also sports bi-xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights also as a first, among others.

The Superb is priced from Rs 18.87 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the 1.8 TSI manual ‘Ambition’ model, to Rs 25.2 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the 2.0-litre TDI diesel ‘Elegance’ model.
