Mercedes-Benz India have introduced the more powerful C 250 d at Rs 44.36 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new W205 C-Class has proven to be a winner with much better driving dynamics and appeal, while also offering occupants a proper German luxury experience.
Earlier available as the C 220 d with 170 PS, the 250 d uses the same 2,143-cc in-line four but with twin-turbochargers, releasing a more potent 204 PS and a credible 500 Nm of torque. The big change is the introduction of the new 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic gearbox that drives the rear wheels. Efficiency gets a boost as does performance with nine ratios managing the power and torque spread better and more evenly, allowing for better acceleration or better fuel efficiency, depending on the driving style or drive mode.
With those numbers, the C 250 d promises a 0-100 km/h dash in just 6.6 seconds and a 247 km/h top speed. At the same time, the fuel consumption, thanks to the revised driveline, is claimed to be as high as 19.7 km/l.
The C250 d features the All-LED Intelligent Light System as standard equipment. It also packs Garmin MapPilot sat-nav with a 7” full-colour screen. A 180° reverse camera also makes life easier when reversing or parking. The C 250 d is being locally assembled at Mercedes’ plant in Chakan near Pune, allowing for the competitive pricing of Rs 44.36 lakh.
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class range now includes the C 200 petrol, the C 220 d, and, now, the C 250 d. The top-of-the-line Mercedes-AMG C 63 S, with the 510 PS BiTurbo V8 is the absolute top-spec model.
