Maruti Suzuki recalled 9,925 units of Wagon r, Celerio and Ignis to fix a possible defect in the rear brake assembly pin for the cars manufactured from August 3 and September 1, 2022.
An official statement from the company read, “It is suspected that there is a possible defect in the rear brake assembly pin (‘Part’), which in a certain case, may break and cause a peculiar noise. There may be a possibility of an impact on brake performance in the long run.” It further added, “necessary repair, if required, will be undertaken post inspection.” Maruti Suzuki will replace the faulty part for zero cost of the customers. The customers will be contacted by the service centres and the repair work will be executed after inspection of the vehicle.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and Ignis house the same 1.2-litre K12N Dueljet petrol engine that makes 88 hp and 89 Nm of torque. The Celerio on the other hand is powered by the K10C petrol engine that puts out 66 hp of power and 89 Nm of torque, a variant of Wagon R shares this engine with the Celerio.
The Wagon R has a price tag of starting from Rs 5.47 lakh, the Ignis starts from Rs 5.35 lakh and the Celerio at Rs 5.25 lakh.
