With competition in the segment growing at an exponential rate, Maruti Suzuki have given the Alto 800 an upgrade to keep interest in the iconic hatchback alive

India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, have launched a refreshed version of the iconic Alto 800, starting at Rs 2.49 lakh, ex-showroom in Delhi. In its newest form the car gets an update to the front styling, fresh interiors, two new colour options, provision for front fog lamp, child lock for the rear door, integrated headrest for the rear seat, remote key operation, and, most importantly, a nine per cent increase in fuel economy.
On the outside, apart from the changed fascia and headlamps, the car is also longer by 35 mm, taking overall length to 3,430 mm. The lower part of the grille has been widened too in order to endow the car with what Maruti is calling its new Aero Edge design. On the inside, the Alto 800 now gets the aforementioned child lock on the rear door, bottle holder for the rear passengers and map pocket for the co-driver. The company is also increasing the vehicle’s safety levels with an ORVM on the passenger side being made part of the standard kit. Additionally, all variants and trim levels of the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 are now available with a driver side airbag as an option.
