Porsche have roped in Russia’s tennis ace, Maria Sharapova, as their new brand ambassador.
While sports cars and Sharapova haven’t really been associated together earlier, her first coming together with the brand happened last year when the star won the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix held in Stuttgart. She was then given the keys to a brand new 911 Carrera S Cabriolet.
Speaking in Stuttgart, Sharapova said, “This is a really special day for me. I have had the privilege to be associated with some of the best brands in the world, but now to be partners with Porsche is such an amazing honor,”
Maria Sharapova is only the second sports person to be the global brand ambassador for an automobile company, after Usain Bolt and Nissan. Having been named the hottest athlete several times, she is sure to attract a lot more attention towards the Porsche brand.
