Land Rover have taken the wraps off the most attractive Discovery yet, and going by what they’ve learned over the years, this one looks set to be the best yet.

Ever since the Range Rover Evoque arrived, the design language changed for Land Rover. The aggressive front-end and smooth, curvy lines made their way across the range in a hurry. When the Range Rover was re-created, it redefined their construction technique, and the Range Rover Sport was more aluminium-based than ever before. With a weight-loss of over 400 kg, it spelt success in a big way.

The new Discovery is next in line, and after the company’s big tie-up with Virgin, things are looking on the up. The new Discovery brings an all-new face and promises cutting-edge features and equipment. The Concept shows the use of suicide doors and supple leather upholstery, together with massive touch-panels for integrated control of several, if not all car functions. Full-LED headlamps also look set to make an appearance.

Although not confirmed, we love to consider the options as far as drivelines are concerned. The 3.0-litre V6 with 292 PS and 600 Nm is highly likely, but considering that this Discovery will be much, much lighter, the new range of four-cylinder diesels with increased power and torque outputs and the new nine-speed automatic transmission as well as hybrid drivelines are also expected.

As we reported earlier, the new Discovery could spawn a line of cars, including a standard wheelbase five-seater and a long-wheelbase seven-seater.

That’s all for now, but we shall break you the news as it happens.
