The Kia EV6 electric crossover wins the coveted Red Dot Awards ‘Best of the Best’ award.
The multi-award-winning Kia EV6 has won overall triumph in the prestigious 2022 Red Dot Design Awards, just a few months after being named European Car of the Year. The EV6 received the ‘Red Dot: Best of the Best award from the renowned international design competition’s 50-strong expert jury for its pioneering and forward-thinking design. The all-electric crossover was also named the Red Dot winner in the ‘Innovative Products’ category.
The EV6 represents Kia’s new path as it evolves into a leading sustainable mobility solutions provider as the brand’s first dedicated battery-electric vehicle. The ground-breaking electric crossover was designed using Kia’s new ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, which ensures a powerful visual identity through opposing combinations of sharp aesthetic features and sculptural shapes. The EV6 is also the first Kia to be built on Kia’s cutting-edge Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). The EV6 uses this unique platform to provide one of the most spacious interiors in its class, a driving range of up to 528 kilometres, and 800-volt ultra-fast charging technology that allows the vehicle to be charged from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
Karim Habib, Head of Kia Global Design Centre, said: “The EV6 is a very important vehicle for the Kia brand, as it is our first fully dedicated EV with our best technology for a new era. We have the ambition to keep pushing the boundaries of automotive design and to back up product substance with inventive, bold and forward-looking designs. “These two Red Dot awards honor the hard work of our teams and encourage us to stay the course towards the future of environmentally responsible mobility for all.”
Kia’s amazing run of victory at the Red Dot Awards continues with the EV6. Since 2009, when the Kia Soul became the first vehicle from a Korean manufacturer to win the award, 27 Kia models have won the coveted Red Dot award. The EV6 is also Kia’s sixth winner of the Red Dot ‘Best of the Best’ award.
