As we had reported earlier, Hyundai are keen to launch a sub-4-metre sedan in the country.
The HB20S Brazil-exclusive model will be the base of this operation as the company gets set to replace the aging Accent. The new sedan will feature styling similar to the HB20S, but will have a smaller boot, going head on to compete with the established Maruti-Suzuki DZire and the newly launched Honda Amaze. The i20 hatchback is already just under 4,000mm so it will be interesting to see how Hyundai India work their way around this little detail.
As far as the engine line-up goes, expect to see the familiar 80 PS 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine and the 90 PS 1.4-litre CRDi diesel engine under the bonnet. A five-speed manual as well as an automatic transmission option for the petrol are a given, but we could also see the return of the six-speed manual for the diesel iteration. Pricing, as always, should be very competitive. Stay tuned for more.
