Honda Siel India is all set to roll out a CNG variant of its City sedan in a bid to take on rivals, who have an advantage due to their diesel offerings.
The new City CNG is all set to compete with the Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid and the Hyundai Verna in particular. According to reports, Honda have been working on the CNG variant for some time now. Minor tweaks like the suspension of the car has been strengthened as the CNG tank will be housed in the boot of the car, also a few changes have been made to the engine to make it better compatible with the alternate fuel. The instrument cluster on the City has also been tweaked as per the CNG requirements and we guess that it should be officially announced by October to make most of the oncoming festive season. Honda has decided to do fitment of the CNG kit and cylinder at the dealer end and not at its factory. While the factory will produce a special ‘CNG variant’ of the City. The price of the CNG variant is expected to be at least Rs 50,000-60 ,000 more than the City, that retails from Rs 8.23 lakh (OTR, Pune) onwards.
