11-July-CI-Mon-6Price reduction likely for Jazz too
HONDA SIEL HAVE ANNOUNCED A reduction in the prices of the Honda City. The company has attributed the price cut to successful implementation of various cost reduction measures as a result of an initiative undertaken two years ago.

The price of the base ‘EMT’ variant of the City is now down to Rs 8.55 lakh (OTR, Pune) down by Rs 45,000,
while the top variant ‘V-AT’ is now at Rs 9.84 lakh (OTR, Pune).

According to industry sources a new sporty version of the City is also in the pipeline. The changes will include those in the exterior as well as interior design, besides tweaks to the bumpers and new tail-lights. The engine, however, will remain unchanged.

After the price cut, the Honda City’s prices are now being compared with the company’s premium hatchback, the Jazz. Fearing that the cost factor might affect the sales of either, the company may now give serious thought to
reducing the price of the Jazz also. Jazz sales already suffer due to its heavy price. It is also learnt that HSCI are likely to lend the City’s 1.5- litre iVTEC engine to the Jazz, which feels underpowered with its current 1.2-litre engine.
