Ford India have launched the new Figo starting at Rs. 4,29,900, ex-showroom. The Figo will be available with a choice of three powertrains – a 1.2-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine matched to a five-speed manual gearbox, a 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine with a five-speed manual gearbox and a 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine with power being transmitted via Ford’s twin-clutch PowerShift transmission. While the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel produce 88 and 100 PS respectively, the 1.5-litre petrol pumps out 112 PS, putting the Figo in hot hatch territory. Together with an able chassis and sorted suspension, which the Figo shares with its sedan sibling, the Figo Aspire, the new Figo should make for a very good driver’s car.
Being essentially the Figo Aspire minus the boot, aesthetically the Figo is similar to the Aspire with its unmistakable trapezoidal front grille and rakish A-pillar that melds seamlessly in to the roof-line. Towards the rear, the Figo swaps the boot for a sweeping tailgate which houses 257 litres of cargo space. On the equipment front, the Figo is loaded to the gills with features which include the MyFord Dock and SYNC infotainment system. In terms of safety, the Figo gets dual airbags as standard across the range (except the base variant, which only gets a driver side airbag) while the range topping Titanium with options gets six airbags. The 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel variants of the new Figo will be available in six trim levels while the 1.5-litre petrol, mated to the PowerShift automatic transmission is available only in the Titanium variant. Customers can choose from a seven colour options – Red, Gold, White, Black, Blue, Silver and Grey.
