For those of you who follow American motor racing, the 2013 season of the Indianapolis 500 is about to get underway later this month.
After quite some speculation, the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has been confirmed as the pace car for the 2013 season. This will be the twelfth consecutive year that a Chevy has been appointed to pace the event.
The 2014 model year Corvette Stingray will essentially be a stock car with the addition of mandatory safety updates to the interior, running lights and decals. The car will also include the Z51 Performance Pack from Chevrolet.
For those who are still wondering about the car, the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show this past March. It packs a 450-PS, 6.2-litre naturally aspirated, V8 petrol engine with direct injection, mated to a seven-speed manual transmission; only the second production car in the world ever to feature seven speeds, after the 991 Porsche 911.
