This is a Casio G-Shock but it is not just that.
It is a G-Shock Mudman GW-9500TLC and it is a special edition timepiece that was made in collaboration with Team Land Cruiser Toyota Auto Body who are supported by Casio in the Dakar Rally. This year they claimed their 11th consecutive victory in the Stock category.
G-Shock watches are among our favourites and this one looks stunning in the Land Cruiser 300 GR Sport colours. It is not a flashy paint scheme at all. In fact, the choice of colours reflect the capability of the watch to function even in the harshest of environments. However, it is not dull either because there are some interesting details all around the sturdy case. Our favourites include the attention-to-detail that has gone into designing the buttons. Meanwhile, the band captures the essence of the Dakar with tyre mark graphics and the official logo seals the deal.
The kit on offer includes digital compass, barometer, altimeter, and thermometer. Casio’s choice to use a dual-LCD allow them to use the overlay effect well and deliver information with good clarity. This watch is capable of being charged by sunlight or even artificial light that is strong enough. Moreover, the time is radio-controlled and adjusts automatically, so it will be in sync with all your devices.
At 88 g, it is not particularly heavy and we were able to use the watch for weeks on end with no discomfort whatsoever. Definitely an enticing piece for collectors with a soft corner for motor sport and off-road racing specifically.
